Identify requirements for GeRDI

In order to grasp the complexity of an interdisciplinary generic research data infrastructure, we continuously involve research communities in our development activities. In close cooperation with scientists from different disciplines, we identify their use cases. Through interviews with researchers from the respective scientific community or on the basis of observations, we record their workflows, efforts, and problems that arise in research data management. We simulate various usage scenarios and document them as case studies. In particular, the interdisciplinary use of research data is taken into account.

In this way, we ensure that developing GeRDI is aligned to practical issues of a scientific working enviroment. These case studies form the basis for the requirements specification, software analysis, implementation work as well as for the continuous evaluation of the designed software and services.
